How to calculate GPA?

The Grade Point Average (GPA) refers to an international grading system ranging from 0.0 to 4.0. It measures your academic achievements over a specific duration.

You can easily calculate your GPA by considering the credits or units of your course or the subjects you are studying, along with your grade/percentage.

Formula for calculating GPA

Total number of grade points ÷ Total credits (based on your courses) = GPA

For those who receive letter grades, you can easily convert them to GPA. Here’s how-

  1. Each grade represents a point, i.e., A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0.
  2. So, if you have 2 courses of 4 credits each and have scored 3 in both the subjects, your total grade points are 12+12 = 24.
  3. Your total GPA comes at: 24 ÷ 8 = 3

To convert percentage into GPA, divide your total percentage by 100 and multiply it by 4.

So, the formula goes- (Total percentage ÷ 100) x 4 = GPA
