Pizza Dough With

My family and I like to do a monthly pizza night. It’s a really fun time for everyone. There are 5 of us: myself, my husband, our 2 sons and our daughter. That calculates into usually making 5 smaller pizzas that consist of each person’s favorite topping. Of course, if 3 people want pepperoni, sometimes we’ll just make a big one instead of 3 individual pizzas.

It’s a fairly large project, and believe it or not, we used to do it all by hand. As the years went on, and the amount of pizzas grew, we needed a more efficient way to make them without sacrificing quality. We typically sit down for a movie afterward, and if we tried to do each one on its own, we would never actually get to the movie.

We learned that we could do this easily with a food processor, so my husband and I sat down one evening, and began to research different kinds of food processors. After much deliberation, we decided to purchase a Cuisinart DFP-14BCWNY Food Processor from KitchenWorksInc. That was the best decision ever.

We make all of our dough with the dough blade. My daughter and I opt for the healthier whole wheat dough, but the boys prefer the regular kind. The food processor also has a grating blade which is great for shredding our own cheese. It started taking way too long to do all that by hand with 5 of us and we’ve found that buying pre-shredded cheese just isn’t the same.

My daughter and I often opt for pizza with veggies on it, and we’re able to chop or shred whatever we need with the food processor. That makes it so much easier than having to cut everything up by hand. Especially the onions!

Sometimes, depending on what type of meat they put on their pizza, we grind that ourselves in the food processor too. It really takes care of so many of the steps for us. This would certainly be an all day activity if we did each and every step by hand.

It also gives the kids a chance to be really creative with what they top the pizzas with. It’s really fun to see what they come up with. The best creations yet are the taco pizza and the cheeseburger pizza. Even my daughter and I discarded our healthier versions to eat those.

We manage to get them all done in about 3 hours from start to finish. I have 2 ovens, so that helps speed the process along. It’s still a perfectly good amount of time for a fun family activity, and it also gets us sitting and watching our movie by 7:30 at night.

Making pizzas is a wonderful bonding experience for us, and it’s one of the few times where the siblings get along, probably because they don’t have to share their pizzas. We have such a great time, and we all look forward to it every month. I’m very thankful that our Cuisinart Food Processor has made it that much more of an enjoyable experience.
